Members 1st Federal Credit Union DOUBLES donations during #ChildrensHospitalsWeek

All this week during #ChildrensHospitalsWeek our friends at Members 1st Federal Credit Union are helping us double our support of local, struggling families by matching online donations up to $10,000 made to CMNHershey.org benefitting Penn State Children’s Hospital. This sponsorship was made in honor of Members 1st’s 70th anniversary and brings their total yearly contribution to the CMN Hershey program to $100,000 through sponsorships and associate and member fundraising – THANK YOU, Members 1st!

As one of Central PA’s largest credit unions, Members 1st has once again put the credit union industry’s motto of “People Helping People” into action. Check out this message from Members 1st’s Mike Wilson, Chief Marketing and Relationship Officer, and Children’s Miracle Network Advisory Board Member, to learn why Members 1st has decided to ramp up their support of local families during this uncertain time for all.

Now through April 12, CMN Hershey is trying to raise $50,000 to support Penn State Children’s Hospital’s patient assistance fund, which provides necessities like meal vouchers, gas cards and medical equipment to families who are struggling financially while their child is receiving care in the hospital. For families who were already living paycheck-to-paycheck, and now those families whose incomes have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, this support is vital to their well-being.

Families with kids like Isabella – this is what her mom, Taylor, had to say about the support she received for her daughter:

“Last September I started working at a new job and had no health insurance coverage for 90 days. My eight year old daughter Isabella is a patient of Betty Michael in Pediatric Neurology. She takes a medication to control seizures. While I had no health insurance Isabella was not eligible for state insurance therefore I would have had to pay out of pocket for her costly medication. The Children’s Miracle Network was contacted by my nurse coordinator and I was able to get a three month supply of my medication at no cost!!! All I had to do was go to the Hospital pharmacy and pick it up!! This was such a gift that lsabella and I are very grateful for! This one gift kept my daughter seizure free and avoided any unexpected hospital stays – as well as keeping my on my budget. Thank you so much Children’s Miracle Network.”

As we’re all currently adjusting to a “new normal,” we completely understand if you are not able to financially contribute to our #ChildrensHospitalsWeek efforts right now, but you can STILL help us towards our $50,000 goal by spreading the word! Write the name of a special child in your life on a BandAid, wear it on your hand, arm, etc. and post a photo on any of your social media channels with the hashtag #ChildrensHospitalsWeek – and tag @CMNHershey!

Thank you for helping Children’s Miracle Network to help as many families as possible and to give so many children the precious #GiftofGrowingUp!
