GIANT raises record total during #CandlesforKids campaign

This past November, 180 GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’s Food Markets collected a record-breaking total of $814,223 during their annual #CandlesforKids fundraising campaign. That total includes $214,164 raised for CMN Hershey at Penn State Children’s Hospital by 46 local GIANT stores.

GIANT associate and cashier, Christina, at the 2nd top-fundraising store in Dillsburg (1st photo) said “Helping people is just something my parents raised me to do, and this is something I can do at my job to make a difference.”

And 17-year-old Miracle Child Anna from Palmyra (2nd photo) recently started her first job at the GIANT in Cleona as a bagger!  To say Anna is unique is an understatement – there are only nine other people in the world that share her condition, Verheij syndrome, which is characterized by delayed growth and psychomotor development, dysmorphic facial features, skeletal abnormalities, and eye, renal and heart defects. Anna has endured numerous surgeries and genetic testing. Although a lot of her childhood has been spent in a children’s hospital, Anna is truly living the #GiftofGrowingUp through learning and enjoying her new role as a GIANT associate.

Thank you GIANT and MARTIN’s associates and customers for an incredible year of making #GIANTMiracles for families in our communities!
