Why We Support Children’s Miracle Network

“One of my favorite memories of my credit union career came at a CMN telethon,” recounted Margaret Delmonico, retired PSECU Director of Public Relations in her acceptance speech for the 2020 Credit Union Hero Award. “The father of a Miracle Child came up to me and said, ‘I’m so proud that my credit union supports something that is really special for my family.’”

Under Margaret’s guidance we – Pennsylvania’s largest credit union – began supporting CMN in the early 2000s. In the beginning, we provided sponsorship dollars and volunteers to help with telethons to raise money for our closest CMN hospital, Penn State Children’s Hospital (then called Hershey Medical Center). We also partnered with local minor league baseball teams, like our hometown Harrisburg Senators, for jersey auctions. But those efforts limited us to regional coverage. To provide support statewide, we named CMN the beneficiary of the 2018 PSECU Chips In Golf Outing. As a result, we distributed $7,262 to each of the five Pennsylvania CMN hospitals.

This year PSECU is the Kids Helping Kids Sponsor for the 2020 CMN Telethon and will match all gifts made by kids up to $5,000.

PSECU has always been committed to serving the greater good. Supporting organizations like the American Heart Association and Feeding Pennsylvania, and with Margaret’s help, we established four pillars of our corporate social responsibility platform. These include environment, well-being, education, and children. In line with our corporate social responsibility platform and our “people helping people” credit union philosophy, we’ll continue “doing something special” for all the children and families, helping them receive the best possible care and making miracles happen every day.
