NICU Awareness Month: Helping Our Tiniest Fighters

During September’s NICU Awareness Month, Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital set an ambitious goal of raising $25,000 to support the tiniest fighters in our community. With your help, we raised an amazing $51,150 for the NICU, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

This incredible contribution will allow us to make a real difference in the lives of our patients and bring much-needed comfort to their families. Thanks to your generosity, we can help provide things like:

  • Angel Eye bedside cameras that offer parents peace of mind.
  • Advanced NICU beds designed to minimize stress on little ones.
  • Pediatrician-recommended bottles that ensure optimal nutrition and support healthy development.

A special word of gratitude to The Hershey Company for their $25,000 Miracle Match!

Take Liam’s story as just one example of the difference donations can make. His mother, Kristy, had a smooth pregnancy until doctors discovered fluid around her baby’s lungs. At 36 weeks, Liam was delivered via C-section, requiring immediate intervention to save his life. During his nine-month NICU stay, he faced many challenges, from cooling therapy for his brain to chest tubes to a tracheostomy to help him breathe. Specialized equipment funded by Children’s Miracle Network donor contributions played a critical role in his survival and comfort.

Donor support gives babies like Liam the gift of growing up. Whether it’s funding life-saving machines or providing a warm meal to a stressed parent, every dollar makes a difference.
