Game Week Mission: Game for Good

This November, gaming takes on a whole new meaning. From November 9–16, Extra Life’s Virtual Game Week invites players of every kind to “game for good”—with the goal of raising $30,000 to help kids and families at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.

Whether you’re into video games, board games, card games, or tabletop adventures, there’s one shared mission: turning playtime into hope and healing for local kids who need it most.

Kicking Off the Fun

The week begins with an in-person Kick-Off on Sunday, November 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the University Conference Center in Hershey. Admission is free, and guests can enjoy refreshments, giveaways, and a celebration of the incredible fundraising week ahead.

The event will feature special guests, awards, and a sneak peek at what’s in store for the week. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with other gamers, meet local supporters, and get inspired to make a difference.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by November 1 to reserve their spot.

Playing Local, Giving Local

Throughout the week, participating game stores across the region will host Game Week events. From casual play sessions to special tournaments, each event offers players a chance to enjoy their favorite games while supporting a meaningful cause.

“Extra Life through Children’s Miracle Network is a fun and innovative way for people to give back doing what they love—gaming,” said Katie Anderson, Director of Children’s Miracle Network. “Whether you’re playing from home or surrounded by friends, every game helps make an incredible impact. From a $10 coffee break for a tired NICU mom to $75 for art therapy supplies, or the collective funding of a charging station for families—every dollar makes a difference for children and families at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.”

Gaming for Good—Anywhere, Anytime

For those who prefer to play from home or online with friends, Virtual Game Week makes it easy to participate from anywhere. Players can create their own fundraising challenges, set goals, and invite friends and family to support them.

Some participants take a “sponsor me” approach—asking for donations based on the number of hours they play—while others build in fun dares, raffles, or family game nights to inspire giving.

One popular idea is the Family Game Night Challenge, where families donate $100, play together, and complete a custom Extra Life Game Week BINGO card. It’s a lighthearted way to spend time together while making an impact.

Participants can create their own fundraising pages or donate directly through the official Extra Life Hershey team page.

Not a Gamer? You Can Still Help.

Even if gaming isn’t your thing, you can still be part of the mission. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide life-saving care, fund vital medical equipment, and support programs that bring comfort and hope to children and families at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.

Leveling Up for a Cause

Extra Life’s Game Week is more than a celebration of play—it’s proof that small actions can create lasting change. When you pick up a controller, roll the dice, or sit down for a board game, you’re helping kids in our community get the care they deserve.

Together, we can make every minute of play count.

Join. Play. Give. Game for Good.
