Extra Life Hershey Exceeds 24-Hour Game Day Goal

Extra Life Hershey, a Children’s Miracle Network fundraising program, raised more than $27,880 during its second annual 24-hour Game Day at the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology’s Student Union Center on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3.

During Extra Life’s biggest fundraising event of the year, more than 100 Extra Life community members came together with a goal of raising $25,000 for Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Virtual gamers also joined the gaming marathon, including The Nerd Place, with participants playing Cards for a Cause tournaments.

“We were excited to host this event and build on the momentum we’ve created all year. It’s amazing to see so many new gamers join us, using their love of gaming to positively impact children and families at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to give the gift of growing up,” said Katie Anderson, director of Children’s Miracle Network.

The event was held in conjunction with Game Day fundraiser events across the country, in which gamers and streamers came together either in person or online to raise donations for their regional Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Collectively, Extra Lifers have raised more than $9.5 million for CMN hospitals in 2024.

Funds raised will be used to purchase lifesaving medical equipment, providing essential services and supporting advanced research to improve children’s health outcomes.

The event was a collaborative effort between Extra Life Hershey and Harrisburg University, offering an interactive way to make a meaningful impact through gaming for good. Participants engaged in a variety of gaming activities, including console and handheld games, board games, tournaments, and live-action Candy Land.

This event was sponsored by The Hershey Company.
