#CMNHershey Wins AAMC Awards

Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Children’s Hospital has received three bronze awards from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Institutional Advancement (GIA).

The GIA Awards for Excellence Competition is an annual, peer-reviewed competition that recognizes outstanding work by members of the GIA and their staff. The awards honor the most creative and effective approaches used to promote academic medicine through alumni relations, communications, development, marketing, and public affairs/community relations programs and projects.

CMN received a bronze award in the special events category for A Champion’s Celebration, a reimagined gala that featured special guest Penn State Head Football Coach James Franklin. The event raised a record-breaking $218,000. Top sponsors included JPL, Highmark Blue Shield and Universal Media-Analytics.

The second bronze award was in the electronic communications category for Scarlett’s Story, a video produced in collaboration with JPL about Scarlett, a former NICU patient at Penn State Children’s Hospital who dreams of becoming a ballerina.

The third bronze award in the print and digital category recognized CMN Hershey’s 2017 annual impact magazine, which highlights patients, families and how donations support life-saving equipment, family-centered programs and research at Penn State Children’s Hospital.

The awards were presented this month at the GIA’s annual conference in Orlando.
