Rite Aid Foundation Donates $250K To Support COVID-19 Efforts

Rite Aid has a long-standing tradition of supporting children’s hospitals, including Penn State Children’s Hospital, as a partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for the past 26 years. Once more they have stepped in to be a caring neighbor for a vulnerable population during this time of great need, as many children’s hospitals find themselves on the front-lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our friends at The Rite Aid Foundation are making a $250,000 donation of unrestricted funding to support nine Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals including Penn State Children’s Hospital.

“These are extraordinary times, and the efforts of CMN Hospitals to support healthcare providers and affected patients is very important and impressive. Across the country, children’s hospitals have found themselves joining the frontlines of this pandemic, offering everything from needed beds to valuable medical equipment. As a longstanding partner, The Rite Aid Foundation is proud to stand with CMN Hospitals during a time when collaboration and partnership mean more than ever.” – Matt DeCamara, Executive Director of The Rite Aid Foundation

The grant will support nine hospitals in Rite Aid’s overlapping footprint, and will allow the hospitals to deploy the funding swiftly to the areas of greatest need. The additional recipients include:

    • Beaumont Children’s in Detroit, MI
    • Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA
    • Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in Los Angeles, CA
    • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA
    • Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Long Island, NY
    • Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Wilkes Barre, PA
    • Seattle Children’s in Seattle, WA
    • UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA

Thank you, Rite Aid, for this incredible gift! Rite Aid was Penn State Children’s Hospital’s second-highest fundraising partner in 2019, raising $770,000 through foundation gifts, a corporate golf outing and icon campaign for Penn State Children’s Hospital to support research, equipment and programs including medical camps.
